FDN: Demobilisation

You know that article saying that Ecuador was going to suspend all large-scale mining (the ones with more than 3 concessions)? Remember how it was to take effect immediately and that the halt on both exploration and exploitation would last until a new mining law is passed + 6 months? The effect of this on Aurelian's Fruta Del Norte means all 250 workers lose their jobs and the fortunate foreigners just move onto the next project.
Well, that mandate has been passed by the assembly, like the Reuters article said, and now Aurelian's been told to stop all mining activies. On site, we've been told to statrt demobilising on Tuesday. Guess I'll be coming home early then...
It's an interesting experience. I mean the workers are all going to Quito to protest tomorrow and the technical staff (engineers, geologist etc...) are absolutely devastated. It's a hard blow to the non-skilled personnel though, as they have no other job to go to but they still have the responsability of feeding their family. It's a sad news here on site. But like they say in Ecuador "Mala tiempo, buena cara" = " Even when times are bad, keep smiling".

On a cheerier note, I have got some pictures of that cablecar we use to cross the river when going to the current borehole. Check me out... I love it!!
