Cine·Bar and Couch Surfing

Yesterday Yannick and I tried the CineBar at our local UVK cinema, at Larcomar. Tuesday is cheap movie day throughout cinemas in Peru and while a normal cinema ticket costs 8.50 soles that day, a Cinebar ticket costs 14.50 soles and includes a drink (soft drink, beer or pisco sour). The CineBar also has seats arranged by pairs, centred around a little table for your drinks. There is more legroom than you can imagine, and comfortable seats, although not much different from normal theatre seats.

We saw La Vie en Rose, the biographic film about Edith Piaf, which was slightly clouded by the fact one couple had brought their 1 year old baby and it was playfully screaming at times. Who brings a baby to an evening french-speaking movie about an old french singer? Seriously irresponsible and a pain in the neck.

On a different note, we have started hosting couch surfers. These are travellers who ask you to let them sleep on your couch (for free of course) and they return the favour when not travelling themselves. The network is quite extensive and the system of verification and feedback gives a sense of security that your hosts or guests are not going to be serial killers or filthy thieves. We have hosted 5 lovely people already and the "reservations" keep rolling in. They even bring us chocolate sometimes.
